need plant that grows full and fast?

need to provide shade for garden pond that is out in the open it gets to much sun.

The best way is to grow birches and other trees nearby, but while you are waiting for those to fill in, you can use water lilies, or put up a canvas awning or even a patio umbrella if the pond is small.

Some people use water hyacinth but they are a noxious weed in many states.
