I found the nausea got better so long as I made sure to take it with "enough" food. What exactly is "enough" varies from person to person though. I have one friend who takes hers with a glass of milk, whereas if I don't have something more substantial, I'll be very nauseous. A piece of fruit, a little cheese, it doesn't have to be a full meal, but it does have to be something.
I don't urinate any more frequently than I did before the Metformin, but it does have diarrhea/loose stools as a side effect, and that one never really went away for me, until I began taking a fiber supplement daily. I take fiber capsules, something like Fiber-Con four times a day, to reduce the poo issues. Some people find the side effects are less severe with the extended release (XR) version, but the weight loss effect also seems to be less significant with the XR version.
If you're still having problems with it, you can give your doctor a call and see if he or she has suggestions. Soulcysters probably also has lots of recommendations, too.

You should really discuss those symptoms with your doc, your dosage may be too low or too high. I've been on metformin for 5 years now , never experienced nausea when I first started taking it .
As a diabetic because you should be drinking water etc. you will go to the bathroom more as you flush out your kidneys.
But not all people can take all drugs and perhaps metformin isn't right for you.
I'd definitely talk to you doc about this.

yeah, its normal. in the beginning i was going to the restroom alot. no, i was running to the restroom. it gets better with time. on the plus side, it will help u lose a little weight.
dont' take it on an empty stomach and i may be mistaken but i think milk aggravates it, so don't take it with milk. i have been on it for about 5 years now.

Frequent urination is a by product of diabetes, not Metformin. Taken with food, Metformin shouldn't cause nausia.

Yes they are normal side effects. It could take a few months for your body to adjust to it. Good luck.

these side effects aren't uncommon. just let the doc know when you next visit him so he's aware.
