Write letters to everyone you miss. You have to write letters to get letters. An old saying but true. If you have more contact with those from home it will help you feel better. Before long you will find it hard to keep up with school and writing those back home. Look at home sickness as a good thing. It means you have people you love, some people do not. Count your blessing! Smile!
I have some one away from home that I love too.

after i have read your sad question that really hurt me to the bone and also all those useless answers i think you d better to hold on life cos life without problems isn't a good life (it seems like life was build on problems) and i really (hate it like this) but after you resolve it you find it so sweet it like breaking a wall which stand between you and your future and i think your friends, your family you will see them sooner or later you have a goal in your life this is why you are leaving a sweet world behind your back and searching for your power cos power is in study and get a diploma ( and if you miss them again just close your and they are with you ) you know this song great do it better you are the best

After you have your homework done, get out of the dorms and go in to town and see a movie, go to a museum, library. Have you not made any friends in college? Do you live close enough to go home and visit? Do you not stay in touch with the folks, friends via phone? E-mail? Spring break is coming up very soon, something to look forward to.

Personally when i went to college I found it very easy to adapt, i just got myself caught up in the life and my new friends. I think if you surround yourself with people then your slowly, not forget about back home, but just think fondly of it, and look forward to returning in the holidays. Remember you havent moved away for good, you will return and you will see them, and im sure your friends will come and visit. If you keep busy, and see moving away as a good thing, a way tobuild character and get independance your soon come to love your new life

Why not just call those you miss and chat for awhile.
Or here is an idea, why not distract yourself with your studies!!! When you get good grades you'll not only make yourself happy, but you'll make your family and friends at home happy, as well!

dont use alcohol to deal with this.
its not your family you are missing but yourself.
This is the perfect opportunity to develop a relationship with yourself.
imagine the amount of young children in hospital who are confined to their beds, and are isolated from their families, and here are you in the open air with good health opportunities, and you miss people.
go and find some new friends

Get out and about and occupy your time. Make new friends and form a group where you are. Then you'll have your college family and your home family, bonus :)
