I have just recently moved to a new house and have a divide of green belt land? between my house and the field beyond. One neighbour said that i could claim this land after 10yrs according to Scots law. Is this just a loads of codswallop or the truth???? you guys/girls decide......

If your neighbour is talking about adverse possession, it's 12 years, and there are requirements too like fencing it off. Consult a solicitor.

Its a load of codswallop.I would be concerned if they try to build on it.On second thoughts I do not know the law in Scotland so try doing a search on land laws.Good Luck

Cods wallop, Green belt is just that, cannot build, don't think you can claim after ten years,.either, someone must own it.
By the way other land claiming has gone up from 7 years to thirteen years.
