Your question is rather unsettling:

- Robbing is illegal - right from the start you were taking the risk, not just of getting caught, but also of losing control of the rest of the process - all of that to get a bit of money and fags - leaving aside moral aspects, it does not come across as a good risk (+ I don't smoke...).

- Still, the law should be fair and it should be applied fairly. You must have looked at the facts behind your friends' (?) case. 10 months does not sound much, they must have had mitigating circumstances of some sort.

- If not, and you think you were treated unfairly, do you think that the guys who robbed a post office should have got even more than you? Or that you should have got less? Now I am not a lawyer, and I don't think much of stealing, but seven years sounds a lot, why do you think they were so 'harsh' on you, maybe you were violent in some way, or you showed no regret, or you have some history, I don't know. The application of the law may be unfair, but it is not random. By the way I am not in that line of business, what is CS gas? Is it bad if you get sprayed in the face with it?

- Will you rob again?

Thanks for asking an unusual question, and good luck to you.

1. You should have got much longer.
2. CS gas in the face Umm Assualt
3. If you spent 6 years of a 7 year stretch, you didn't exactly "bide your time" did you? If you had you'd been out in 3 1/2 years probably less if you had been out on remand before.

Truthfully, you're lucky that's all you got. Sheeessshhh! What the heck were you thinking? Yes...it's fair, and you should have gotten longer. I think spraying the guy in the face with CS gas is what got you that long. That's Assault with intent to commit bodily harm. That alone in the US carries a term on it's own. Then there's the charge of Robbery. What did you expect?, a slap on the wrist?

What you don't say is whether or not this was a first offence and whether the guy you sprayed suffered injuries as the result of being sprayed in the face by you. When the court sentences you it looks at all the surrounding circumstances, including your record to date, any mitigating circumstances and any aggravating circumstances. That is why you can't compare sentences in this way. You seem to have left prison with a sense of grievance. Perhaps this was why you served a whole six years out of a seven year sentence, when most fellows would have been out earlier on remission. Until you sort things out in your own mind, you're not going to be able to turn your life around in the way I hope you will.

Not too sound like a smart ***, but if yu got 7 years you didn't get away with anything. However, to answer your question: \

Did you have the same judge, and do you have prior convictions for anything else. I don't know if that matters in the UK.

I imagine you got more time than those guys because you sprayed some guy, which I'm guessing is why your sentence was stiffer.

why did you even rob the garage in the first place. my thought on this matter is that you should of got more because what gives you the rite to spray someone in the face when they are just trying to earn aliving . well i hope when you were inside that you have had your head cleared and you will not do that again. you should go out and get a job and you would see how hard it is to make a living and earn your own money. if we all rob what would the world come to. i really hope you dont do this again it is no life to have a criminal record hanging over your head. which will make it harder for you to get a job. you only have one life on this earth and im sure you dont want to spend the rest of your days behind bars.

I bet the person you robbed and sprayed in the face does not think you got put away long enough!!! Your question shows no sign of regret on your part, only anger that someone else got a better deal than you, that to me shows that you obviously were not put away long enough to learn anything!!! Get over it, you did the crime , do the time!!

Just thank your lucky stars that you did not try this in the states you would have got 30 years for it. or shot by the cops. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and try to learn from the error of your ways. Now go out there and be an honest citizen

The only thing not fair about it was you did not get any longer and how you can even ask such a question about being fair is beyond me.
I feel sorry for you after seven years you are sitting at the computer and asking this question.
Get a life and move on and consider yourself luck that they released you at all

Why should the law treat you fairly if you did not treat the garage and the operator of that garage fairly?

No the law is not fair. That is why it is best to stay out of trouble.

As a criminal, you are sacrificing a lot of your human right to be treated fairly by society.

Although in your favour, I believe that you can now move on from a clean slate. You have paid your time and your debt to society. Just don't make the same mistake twice. And don't expect any sympathy from anyone.
