crappy washer/dryers?!?!?

I live in an apartment complex, and our washer/dryers suck to be quite honest lol.

Does anyone have any secret tricks to getting clothes super clean in a washer that only runs for 15 minutes? I have tried oxy clean/stain remover directly in the wash/every and all detergent (settled on All Small&Mighty, works the best!), and our clothes are still coming out dingy. They're clean, but not as clean as they could be, and stains rarely come out unless I hit them with a stain spray as soon as the accident happens. I have a 3 year old so stains are unavoidable and her clothes are slowly getting ruined.

Any tips would be appreciated!

I guess I should mention, there are 2 washers/dryers for about 15 apartments, so soaking, or even running the washer twice, isn't an option. I have to fight my way to an open washer lol!

Do smaller loads, if the clothes are crowded they don't get clean. **Hey, if you're paying to use these things, why not take your stuff to a laundro-mat and use as many machines as you want. Just a thought**

Anywho, use the warmest water possible and put less detergent into each load, but use the max amount of water. The All small & mighty is super concentrated and you can use about half of what the bottle recommends. I use that stuff, too.

For the 3 year old and her messes, I hear ya. Clorox 2 is your friend. Take the stained stuff off right away, drizzle on the Clorox 2 for colors and let it stand for 5 minutes, then rinse it in the sink and let it air dry. I let my kids eat breakfast in their jammies and don't care if those get stained because we only wear them around the house. At lunch I have been known to strip the kids out of "good" clothes and put them into already stained play clothes in order to preserve the "good" unstained stuff!

I add half a capful of Clorox 2 to every load, along with the All, and use warm water or hot water for everything. My black clothes & dark loads get All in cold water.

I am assuming that this washer/dryer combo is IN your apartment. You can purchase a WATER SOFTENER additive that you can add when you wash your colored clothes. In addition, add a liquid bluing (Mrs Stewarts is one)to your white clothes and let them soak before washing them..Now, if this is a community area where you go to do the washing you can still do the above except you will have to soak your whites before taking them to the washer...This comes from my wife who has done my clothes for over 40 years...She usually lets them soak overnite(whites)
