You can attract more flies with honey than vinegar.

You have to work for this person. You are better off making the best of things and trying to improve relations.

I wouldn't go all out since the boss is a jerk but I would at the very least send an email or say a simple happy birthday, hope you have a nice day.

Maybe, just maybe, it will influence him to be nice to you some day.

Just smile and right before you leave for the day if you can slip him the birthday greeting and make it look casual, go for it.
I have an annoying boss and if you wish her well, like happy birthday or something she just does what she can to embarrass you and will make you feel like you are >< big.

that's stable to be the king. She's your supervisor so there is not a lot you're able to do different than manage it or bypass away. those are this sort of issues that ensue in small workplaces. in simple terms be happy while she isn't around and attempt to devise your day without work as early as accessible devoid of her getting wind of it. in simple terms take a various break day to your birthday (in step with possibility hers?), maximum jobs do not supply you a paid break day to your birthday.

A simple 'Happy Birthday" will be enough. He is your boss and no matter how annoying he may be its the polite thing to do

Do the little suck up dance. It hopefully will pay off in the long run. It's amazing how they respond to that little dance and pass out tiny little rewards later on. Even better is when you give them something in writing for future reference.
Oh, try not to puke on him when you've finished wishing him the happy day.

Find out how old he is, and for each year punch him in the arm. Or face. It will let you secretly blow off some steam in the name of Birthday Hits.
