im thinking about getting a red belly pirahna from one of my friends, he has it illegally, but got it from a legal owner. i dont know where to look to find information on getting a permit, and also i can't find how much they are. any answers will help! thanks

You can contact your local state representative. They can point you in the right direction or even have what you need there.

The local DNR / fish commission can also help since they are the ones who place the ban on owning the fish.

Before you try getting a permit I would suggest you read up on piranha. There schooling fish, and should be kept in groups.

As for finding out how to get your permit, call your local animal shelter or vet's office. You can also can try the public library there's usually a person on staff who has all of your local information and will be able to tell you what to do.
