I was just wondering if they hated modern Germans or something. Like wot would they do if a German newsreporter was in Jeruselum.

If Israelis hate Germans, they shouldn't: Germany is Israel's biggest European supporter.

There are certainly German reporters in Jerusalem and there are German tourists in Israel and state visits of German politicians there etc. So no need to ask "what would they do?". There are already Germans going there and they behave with them normally.

Two workgroups at my institute in Germany have research cooperations with Israeli universities. One of our professors once told us a bit about his time in Israel when he visited the cooperating workgroup there. He got along fine with the people there, no hatred. One of the Israelis was recently here for a conference too. They work together in genetics and in bacterial genome sequencing projects.

I also met a group of young Israelis in Germany once when I stayed at the memorial of the former concentration camp Buchenwald with a youth group for study, some of us were Germans, others were from other European countries. It was a coincidence that the Israeli group was there at the same time. When they found out we were there they contacted us and we spent time together and ate together etc. on their initiative. We also had a commemoration ceremony at the former camp site together with them which they had planned to do anyway, but when they met us there they asked us to join and to contribute to it. They were really nice.

There are also Jews living in Germany and in my town there is a new synagogue under construction now. The husband of a friend of mine is Jewish, he lived in Israel for some time but now lives in Germany and they raise their daughter here.

I could give you more examples. Similar questions like yours were also asked here before, there were also Jews answering them, and no one said he hates Germans.

However when recently German bishops who visited Israel compared the situation of Palestinians to that of Jews during the Holocaust or in other words, compared Israelis to Nazis, Israelis and other Jews were understandably outraged.

I think they have bigger problems with their neighbours.

When I was in Israel - the older generation, only seemed to get scared if they heard a German accent -
the younger generation - I have heard that many are claiming their right to a German passport - and staying in Germany.
