No, your question is stated correctly. Society moulds how people act based on the beliefs of society and peer pressures. This is exactly how the negative influences that are corrupting the US today are being propagated. Groups such as anti-religious zealots, pro-gay coalitions, pro-abortion coalitions knew years ago that Social pressures would not allow them to make inroads with their causes. So they infiltrated the entities that control our social values such as the media. Once they achieved this goal they could slowly start presenting data and misinformation to the public to slowly change the publics social values. They started by presenting articles that say that to be pro-religion or anti-gay are bad values. They make use of such words like Bigot, Racists, Reigious Fanatic to make people feel badly about their GOOD inner values, and they use words such as Tollerance, Acceptance and Social Values to make people feel good about their BAD inner values. Then we slowly accept what we know to be wrong and unacceptable behaviour such as gay rights, abortion on demand, and other sick social values. In short, they use our inner feelings against us by the strategic use of emotional key words as mentioned above. As a result, juveniles think its OK to act irresponsibly, they think its acceptable to act out in an anti-social manner, they think they have a right to be insulent and destructive because thats what they have been programmed by the new social values to think.

I'm sure there are valid psychological and sociological reasons for the causes, but my theory is far more simplistic.

I think it boils down to parental resonsibility. Parents who fail to teach thier kids morals, or set bad examples have kids that are more likely to follow the example of thier parents.

I also think teen pregnancy contributes too. A person who can't take of themself sure as hell can't properly care for a child. Bad decisions are like a snowball effect.

it seems to me parents are content to let television watch thier kids, because thier too busy to spend time with thier kids.

I will admit that high divorce rates probably play a factor too. I don't want to get on a soap box, but my parents were divroced when I was 5, and I never saw my dad until I was in H.S., we weren't rich, but my mom stayed involved in my daily activities (as much as I widh she wouldn't have at the time) an I turned out fine. We also went to church regularly too. I think that helped. Parents today just don't seem to care.

I also have two kids, and I stay involved in thier lives, my son lives in another state with his mom, but I do what I can.
