I'm a Kentucky fan and I think you want your conference to do well because when they do, that depicts the level of play in your conference. The only team in the SEC I have a hard time routing for is Florida (for obvious reasons), but I still do it because they're an SEC team. I do feel more inclined to route for the teams who are the lower seeded guys in the conference, because you want to see the "underdog" do well.
With that being said Go Vols, Go Commodores, and yeah....even Go Gators haha.

A diehard fan probably would not. Your school is in recruiting competition with the other schools. The further they go in tourneys, the bigger the advantage in recruiting they get over you.
For instance, the nation's top recruit is Willie T. Stubbs, from Crooked Neck, Ohio. Ohio State wants Willie bad, but so does Michigan State. If MSU wins The Dance, Willie T. is gonna want to be a champion too, so he signs with Mich. St. However, if Mich. St. gets blown out by 40 points in the first round by Mississippi Upper Central Valley Technical College, Willie T. Stubbs thinks "Man - I ain't playin' for no loser like that!. I'm staying home and going to Ohio State."

No, I don't. I'm a CAL fan, and I don't root for UCLA or Stanford. Sometimes I will like other teams in conference, but I don't root for them because they are also in the Pac-10. If anything, I root against them since they are not CAL.
Kind of like this year. Even if UCLA wins the Final Four, I can always say CAL knocked them off twice this year. ;)

Funny you should mention that. I AM a Michigan State fan and I DO support the Big Ten and particularly Ohio State. They are awesome! I hope they go all the way!

If a team in the BigTen (I'm an OSU fan, too) were to play a team in a different conference than most likely I would cheer for the BigTen team because it makes our conference look better.

AS an SEC fan I do root for fellow members. Of course this is only in post season or when playing out of conference. A victory out of conference lends creditbility to your 'we are the best conference' argument. GoVols, Dores, and Gators!

I stay in Seattle, and that i'm a huge fan of the Washington Huskies. sure, I easily have been watching the convention tournaments! Unfortunatly, we've been kicked out via Arizona State final night, yet we are %10 champions, so we'd desire to continuously nevertheless get a respectable spot interior the NCAA tournament.

To me, i dont cheer 4 or against a team in UCLA's conference, (UCLA is my team) it depends on who the team is, lik i wouldnt mind if kansas went and won it all, but i would rather hav UCLA winning it. but then on the other hand i dont like duke and they werein the same conference as UCLA, so 4 me it has nothin 2 do wit the conference, but its the actual team.

Definitely. You should want your conference to do well, because it makes your own team look better.
Plus it's natural because you are familiar with them. If you are a true competitor you respect your opponent.
