do you ever stop and think about how daft some of our saying are - like just now a guy came into my office and said
ah - are you here? (like OBVIOUSLY seeing as you're looking at me!)
other ones such as
"ah - its yourself" (again - looking at the person)
"are you not gone yet" (err - no - could you see me if I had?)
"are you not eating that" - (ah you push the plate away from you)
anyhoo - just an observation..... no I dont actually have a life!!
xx

Ahh, don't be so tough on yourself or others, friend!
People say things that seem obvious or banal, even because they are embarrassed or would feel too offensively FORWARD to be direct.
Just giving a whorl at communication - but tippy-toeing towards it. Where I live, which is a condo complex, my VERY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR, every time she sees me, she'll exclaim, as if she'd seen me a whole century ago and not just yesterday : "GRACE!!!"I used to respond over and over, "yep Fran, It is only me, picking up the mail . . . This same exchange occurred until one day when a light-bulb lit over my head. When she again said : "GRACE!!!" - I said : "WHERE???"
Having added a generous dose of humor to my life has saved me from going bonkers at most peoples indirectness, for politeness' sake.
For most people mean well, but it is a tough world . . so often times we take the "stepping-on-egg-shells outlook.

It is not so much that I now have More of a life, It is just that it has become much more humorous!
See Youse, as it's said in Philly!
XXOOOX!

Yeah, sometimes I find myself stating the obvious. My favorite is "are you eating that". My friend Mika says it in such a funny way.

Hiya.
When someone has just been in an accident asking them "Are you okay" or "Are you hurt".
When someone phones you at home and says " Is that you"
One I often do myself ashamedly is asking someone I have just dragged out of the deep end of the swimming pool " can you not swim"

I heard someone in the supermarket yesterday say 'There's an awful lot of weather about today'.
Surely there's the same amount of weather every day!

Some drunk guy in the Emergency Room night sat down in the waiting room next to me and my kid. In the EMERGENCY ROOM. he's yacking away about how he injured himself and my daughter throws up into a bowl she's holding. He goes "Oh, is she sick?"

Why else would I have her in the emergency room, dumbass?
