Seemed like it may have been a little selfish on his part, however now Ben has much less power because he has nothing to hold over the others heads as collateral to get them to do what he wants. Very interesting twist. How about Jack being so selfish - seemed out of character.

That's a hard question to answer. In a way yes, because he took away The Others' means of leaving the Island. In a way no, because he allowed Ben to manipulate him into not letting Jack leave. So it's kind of a toss-up. On the other hand, I was noticing the looks that Locke got from some of the Others, like maybe he wasn't the enemy after all. Why did he do it? Maybe just because he didn't like them, and he could.

Well, he did it for the reason Ben said, that he didn't want to leave because he's afraid that if he does he'll be wheelchair-bound once again. John has a special connection to the island and Ben has picked up on this.

If I were in John's position I would've done the same thing, but now NOBODY can leave...it's going to be interesting to see what develops next!

I don't think he should have blown it up but I understand why he did it. John is afraid to leave the island because if he ever leaves there's a good chance he won't be able to walk anymore. When he came to the island he was able to stand and walk because of the island's healing powers. That's also why Ben wants to stay on the island. He wants the island to heal him.

I dont get the John not wanting to leave thing. Even if everyone gets rescued he has every right to stay there if he wants to, so what if everyone else is gone, he can stay and walk. So I really dont get that as a great reason for him to blow it up. Jack is going to kick his patootie! Jack was not being selfish, he was trying to get off the island to get help for everyone else.

He did it not only for himself but because the others predicted that he would do it. I just want to know how his dad ended up on the island with the others. And was Jack really going to come back with help. Lost is really getting good now.

I believe 'the others' ALWAYS have another plan, it has proved so in the past.

Perhaps another sub, or just another way. I doubt very much
there was just one way to get off. Totally unlike 'the thinking' of the others.

John did what he thought was best.
