I have the same problem with my dog. The reason your grass gets discolored is due to the high acidity levels in your dog's urine. There are tablets that you can give your dog that are safe and neutralize the acidity content in the urine. I know many people, including myself, that have used them and they work rather well. You can find them at any good pet store, but they are a bit costly. Hope this info helps.

All you can do is use a good grass patch. Rake out the dead grass and fill in with the patch seed mix. It is available in most garden and home improvement centers.
We have two dogs both of whom do the same as yours. We are in the process of teaching them to only use the kennel ( cement floor) outside for bathroom duties. They use to have the whole back yard but it is just too much work maintaining a full lawn with two dogs that can not pick one area. It is like training them all over again. We have a boxer and they are very strong willed dogs. The other dog is doing just fine. I would recommend this method to lesson your annual yard work. Good luck to you!

I have never tried this, but someone told me if you put a few teaspoons full of tomato juice in the dog's water bowl, the acid in the juice neutralized the urine and it doesn't stain the grass.

When you dog goes to urinate turn the sprinklers on. Don't approach the dog. Just put the sprinkler out there and when the dog start to urinate turn the sprinkler on and leave it on. This will accomplish two things. The dog will go somewhere else and it will delute the urine and get it off the grass.

You'll have to put some grass sead where its dead and then everytime that she urinates, cover the place where she's been with lots of water so it dilutes the urine - no more brown patches.

OK.. all these home remedies are very interesting, but the way to best deal with it is gypsum. You can buy it at garden centers. Sprinkle gypsum on the affected area and water in well. The gypsum will replace the urea and re-balance the soil.
Garden Gypsum. Most Lowe's and Home Depots sell it.
I get to sprinkle gypsum on my lawn where other people's dogs pee on it. Hey dog owners! Let your dogs pee in your OWN YARD!

Fresh grass seed and when you approach her, dont look at her actually ignore her and make your focus on getting her outside before she goes. Females get very excited to see you so if you play down that excitement, and focus on calm, they eventually get the message that potty first and attention after .But you have to be consistent..
