50-something couple heading to Ormond Beach for first time in late May (no kids). We're staying at the Georgian Inn Beach Club. Can anyone provide any recommendations on good seafood restaurants and attractions? Will probably drive over to Orlando and maybe Cape Canavarel for a day. Thanks!

Peggy you have a great answer above. Right down to the Key Lime Pie. One from a regular to the area.
I can only offer you some links to sites that may be useful for you, prior to your trip.
I always like to check the websites of cities and places I'm about to visit.
When you arrive, you have an idea of what you would like to see and do.

This is a link to Ormond Beach's Chamber of Commerce website.
It contains helpful tourist information.
This includes, dining, attractions, taverns, night spots, golf and shopping.

Drive down the road to Ponce Inlet...there you can tour the lighthouse, catch a daylong casino cruise (at least I think they still do those) and there's this restaurant down there by where the 'cruise ship' is docked. I forget what it was called, but it really didn't look like much but had absolutely great food - all the way to the end with the key lime pie. There was also a really good seafood restaurant under the Port Orange bridge, but last time I was down there I had difficulty finding it.

Hmm...I would have recommended the track, but most NASCAR fans that go to Florida already know what where why, etc. I've been there myself actually. I've done the tour, I've even done the Richard Petty riding experience. One interesting landmark in Daytona, I believe in A1A is the Streamline Motel or Hotel or something like that (I may not even have the name right). It's where NASCAR was 'born'.

How ironic, I'm a former owner at the Georgian Inn. We enjoyed owning this time share for many years. After we sold our home in Orlando and started to travel, fulltime, in our motorhome we sold our week, 28, Unit 501. It just didn't fit our lifestyle any longer.

So far everyone has had great suggestions but, no one has mentioned NASCAR. At the track they have a great many things to do and see. Racing was born here and continues. My Mother, who grew up in the area, used to be the salad girl at the old Ormond Hotel. If you were in racing this is where you stayed. All racing in the '20's was held on Ormond Beach.

Plan on spending an entire day at Cape Kennedy Space Center, sorry the names changes constantly. If you like history and space, you'll find it here.

The desk personel will be the best source of information on where to eat. Bike week is just finishing up and many places, local owned, may not open yet. Like Sturgis, SD's bike week, sane people get out of town for bike week and may not have returned.

Drive North on A1A to St. Augustine and look over the oldest town in North America. I'm not sure if it's still opened but Marineland was the first sea life attraction, long before Sea World.

The entire East coast of Florida is full of things to do. There is so much history in this area, it's just not recorded like in Virginia and the rest of the colonies.

Have a great trip.
