Rachel McAdams was born in Ontario, Canada on October 7th 1976 to truck driver Lance and nurse Sandy.

Despite describing herself as a serious kid, McAdams always managed to be in the spotlight. "I remember watching Star Search and thinking 'I gotta be on that show' - even though I couldn't sing or dance to save my life," she says. During her school years then, she approached it from a different angle: competitive figure skater, but the constant pressure ended up making her leave it. At age 13, she finally had a chance to try acting at a summer theater camp, something she recalls as something she always loved but living in the tiny town of St.Thomas (close to London) was impossible to achieve earlier. Soon after, Rachel was playing several roles in school plays including Shakespeare versions. The straight A's studies confesses she was more into acting than the popular scene she's found in on her movies, feeling like a "geek" in high school. Her theater love continued during her years at York University, where she didn't only graduated with honors but with a B.F.A. in theater.

She started acting professionally in canadian movies and tv series. Her role in tv series "Slings and Arrows" won her a Gemini Award, which is like an Emmy in Canada, and she got several other nominations. Meanwhile she landed her Hollywood break-through as popular and cruel teen in "The Hot Chick". And soon after she starred with Lindsay Lohan, again as the typical popular girl in the hit "Mean Girls". In both movies the cast and crew didn't miss a chance to point out how real life Rachel was just the opposite of her characters. Soon, the young actress was becoming quite popular herself. Her next landed role was in "The Notebook", opposite to her now fiancé, Ryan Gosling. The movie brought her new popularity to new levels in the teen audience, winning her a Teens Choice Award along with not only a couple MTV Movie Awards but the record of nominations in one year.

During 2005 Rachel starred in three Hollywood movies, "The Wedding Crashers", "Red Eye" and "The Family Stone", yet her plans for 2006 are quite more relaxed as her current projects 'only' include getting married to fiancé Ryan Gosling.

Well i don't really know anything personally about her, but i think she has one of those naturally pretty faces and a unique look about her. I love the Notebook and the red eye, mean girls.

she was good in mean girls but academis wise she won't hold a candle to emma watson of hermione fame..as emma scored all As in 10 of her GCSE subjects. tht is her last yr at high school exams..despite filming h potter,playing golf,hockey...
