When my teachers say '' If you fail this trimester you have to go to summerschool'' Does that mean I have to get a F for fail or does a D considered failing too.

No, you won't be held back for a D but, I think your teacher means that is you don't get your studying done and bring the D up you could end up with the D going down to an F and there fore you failed.

No you cannot be retained for a D but you sure can for an F. An F is failing while a D is below average so D is still passing but just barely. I would recommend going for either an A, B, or C because they are more acceptable grades and a D looks very very bad on your transcript when you try to go to college. Getting a D also means no getting accepted into an Ivy League college like Standford if that is what you want so please keep that in mind.

A grade of "D" is a minimal passing score. You're passing but just barely. Usually, a remediated failing grade will be changed to a "D", no matter how ell you do in summer school.

A D grade is not failing, it is below average.
