Ok, here is the deal. I work out pretty much every part of my body Monday-Friday for about 1 to 2 hours a day. What i would like to know is that is it ok to do so? Is it really mandatory that you give you body time to rest? Thanks.

Dude i used to be like you work out every single day no rest and i got injured and had to stop working out for about 9 day till my neck got better i felt like **** during those days cause i could not work out but man let me tell you my body looked better and better every day and that's because i stopped working out that my body muscles stocked up on nutrients and protein so they got defined and i actually lost 5 pounds that week even though i ate a lot.
Bottom line is that you muscles do need time to relax and build up time to rest is a must because if you don't get enough rest you will be like me and be more easily injured due to fatigued muscles give you self at least a week of rest after 4 or 5 weeks of workouts and you'll see how your muscles build up

you can work out as much as you want, but if your doing a full body everyday?....1. you cant possibly work your entire body sufficientlly in 1 - 2 hours, try 4, maybe 5 w/ cardio. 2. Even if you did that the wear and tear you're putting on your body is out weighing the good. your muscle mass will do the complete opposite that you want, you're just destroying it.
7 days a week is fine. 1 -2 muscle groups a day + cardio. increase your amino acid intake, bump your protein intake to atleast 100% your body weight. 200lbs = 200 grams of protein. Get atleast 8 hours of sleep every night, and carb up an hour before you work out. cereals, grains, slow burning carbs. I was doing somehing similar as you about 6 months back trying to cut & condition. I wasnt seeing any gains, I was dropping the weight, but my muscles werent doing ****. Then 1 day I was just drained, no matter how much sleep I got I was tired as ****. Then I got the worst fever and flu you could imagine. Your bodies important, go easy on it.

yes, give you muscle time to rest because this is the time they actually grow! I work out each body part once a week! at first a big guy told me to do that but I said that is not enough! but as I got older I realized he was right! here is an example:
Monday chest and bis
tuesday legs
wednesday shoulders and tris
thursday back and hamstrings

do cavs, abs, and cardio mon. wed. and friday!

Never work out the same muscle group within the same 5 days. Lifting weights technically injures muscles, and when they grow back bigger that's because they are healing. Without that healing/growing time, you might as well not work out at all.

If you're doing any sort of weight training your muscles need time to heal the small tears that occur with resistance.
