Her room is too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter

solar screen for window - tint is junk

vent skin - install furring strips over siding 1 1/2" pressure treated cover with 7/16" osb cool ply/tech-shield sheathing facing toward created air gap. cover w tyvek/tar paper, reapply siding

hot in summer cold in winter .... increase central a/c-heat air flow to this room - by addining a duct, or just changing the location of where this duct attaches to the plenum - ( if on side , exchange it with one that is closer to a direct line with the fan motor - more air flow - a/c man's job )

large bushes would help, but radient heat would still penetrate.

if you have room, you could avoid the siding trouble & build a hollow heat shield that would block the sun away from the house - disguise it as a "vine terrace" with lattice on both sides... shield top from weather, & screen top & bottom from bugs!

WELL ..LET ME GIVE SOME SUGGESTIONS: the main thing with that room was poor ventilation..umust had not considered during the construction of house. you may go for false roofing of that place.
the best idea is to construct/place a wooden plank covering that wall and ask ur daughter to paint a picture or any ....or sell the place to any Advertising agency....
1) IF U HAVE PLACE AROUND THAT ROOM, TRY TO PLANT TREES AROUND THAT PLACE...
2) IF U DONT HAVE SUFFICIENT PLACE, U CAN TRY SOME CREEPERS ON THE ROOF..WHICH CAN MADE TO SPREAD OVER THAT WALL.....ONLY DURING SUMMER AND TAKE THEM OFF DUIRNG WINTER (as it becomes cold as u said )

Sounds like you could use some windows awnings.
