I think I am going to recieve papers to give a deposition. Should I hire my own attorney?

I work with someone and am being requested to give a deposition on his behavior which happened 2-3 yrs ago. I made a statement to someone and dont even remember it because my stress level was so high. My dad was very sick and dying and I was dealing with my wild daughter who was in a psychiatric facility for self mutilation and honestly, I do not remember saying what this lady says I said.
I already spoke to the attorney for the facility where I work and they told me to expect legal papers to give a deposition.

If you can implicated in the case in anyway - then seek representation.
Otherwise, simply tell them what you know and what you don't remember simply say "I do not recall". I will warn you they will probably ask you the question ten different ways - just keep stating "I do not recall".
I am assuming by "facility" you work in some health care setting - contact you facilities risk management or legal representative and speak with them about the situation. If you are strictly a fact witness in the case and not implicated in anyway you should be okay.
If the facility/other person is the one being sued and you are being called by the plaintiff's attorney then I would assume that the facility counsel will want to be involved if you are deposed.
Take a deep breath - depositions are not the inquisition torture (at least not usually).

Wow...you have a lot of problems! makes my problems seem trivial...I would hire an attorney though if you fear incrimination of some kind. If you can't remember though, just say exactly that in your deposition. You don't need an attorney to plead ignorance..that's a long time to remember who said what.
