He is not against it--but believes 'other' theories of thought should be taught as well (ie intelligent design).
"In an interview at the White House on Monday with a group of Texas newspaper reporters, Mr. Bush appeared to endorse the push by many of his conservative Christian supporters to give intelligent design equal treatment with the theory of evolution.
Mr. Bush was pressed as to whether he accepted the view that intelligent design was an alternative to evolution, but he did not directly answer. "I think that part of education is to expose people to different schools of thought," he said, adding that "you're asking me whether or not people ought to be exposed to different ideas, and the answer is yes."
Hmm, either shove evolution down children's throats as "fact" and the ONLY explanation for life-or teach them ALL the theories and LET THEM THINK.............
I have to go with the POTUS on this one.

If Bush did help this type of marketing campaign, he's even crazier than i presumed. in ingredient of certainty, there could be no faith interior the wide-unfold public colleges left if this replaced into carried out, and the parents could be suitable to sue them for taking their funds and their toddlers and calling that training. look, that is not purely a count of opinion. The "concept" of evolution is quite like the "concept" of relativity: in basic terms observed as concept and not undeniable certainty because of the fact scientists are over-careful. or possibly extra surely, because of the fact they are being type to the fundamentalists. no person has produced a shred of knowledge to discredit the "concept" of evolution in any scholarly magazine or analyze undertaking yet, and that they gained't, because of the fact that is an OBSERVABLE certainty: purely ask any livestock breeder! Animals exchange over the years. Over long classes of time and often over short classes. maximum domesticated animals have replaced because of the intervention of human alternatives, yet whether they instruct the mechanism, partly via dashing up the approach. To kowtow to fundamentalist religious communities isn't any kindness to them. quicker or later they might desire to renowned that what they are preserving is purely an interpretation of a translation of an interpretation of a translation, and not the unalloyed be attentive to God. they might admire the Bible for its value to them without insisting that it has any scientific certainty in any respect.

what the president thinks should not matter in regards to education.
both evolution and creation need to be taught
we know that evolution is real
we have no PROOF that humans evolved from monkies.
in a nutshell from a scientific viewpoint God is technically an alien and could have created humans...
evolution and creationism are both scientifically plausable so therefoe since niether one can PROOVE where humans came from we should teach both

I wasn't aware that he was. But besides that I think that the ONLY way that evolution should be taught is as a theory AND that creation be taught as a theory along side it. If they are gonna teach one then they need to teach the other. I am sick and tired of my rights as a Christian being taken away. I will fight just as hard for creation to be taught as unbelievers do for evolution.

Because it is a theory, and if you only teach the "theory of evolution", you are not being fair to the children by not letting them know there is another side. And this "separation of church and state", that doesn't exist in the Constitution should not be used as a cop-out.

Well first of all it is still the "Theory" of Evolution...I could really care less, but if schools teach one they should teach both so that the students can decide on their own...but the left would never allow that...once scientists find the "Missing Link" then it won't be a theory anymore...all Darwin has proved is that animals adapt to different environments...

It just proves my theory that he is an absolute MORON! I can't believe people care and listen to what this guy thinks. I'm surprised he even thinks I'm sure this has been written for him.

I don't think he's totally against it, actually. Besides, if you think about it...could you really see us evolving from apes?.. or even amoebas? If that is so...then it would fall under 'reincarnation' anyway.

I did not realize he is against it. However, it's a pretty far-fetched theory anyway as an all-encompassing explanation for why we are here and where we came from. Why not teach all theories and let students make up their own minds? Why indoctrinate? Independent thought should be encouraged.
