Wow, This is a tough one mainly because i'm not in front of the PC. I think you may have to check the hardware part of the PC. I may be one of these, front panel connectors, make sure each connector is conected to the motherboard correctly. Each ones have an arrow indicating positive, thats if each ones are separate and not a whole piece when it connects on to the motherboard. It would only require one wrong connection to cause for something like that. another may be the RAM memory module, reseat it, put it on another PC to make sure it 's working properly. Check the power supply. Reset the bios. assure on post that it detects the hard drive. I wish i'd be able to help, mainly because i'd have to have the PC in front of me in order to trouleshoot. Sounds like either the memory module, the motherboard, or the connections. good luck.

Well there is an option available to you, you go to www.maxtor.com and download maxblast 4 for DOS, this tool completely wipes the hard drive.

Of course you only do this if you have a windows CD ROM and can install it at will.

If its one of those PC's that comes with windows pre-installed and a restore CD, then send it to them, and they should fix it.

Go into set up and see if there is something screwy set in the power management settings. If not, when booting hold down the F8 key and see if it will boot in safe mode.
