The Mohorovicic Discontinuity, or "Moho", is the boundary between the Earth's crust and the mantle. It's a surface where the character of seismic waves changes, because the rocks change from solid to a more plastic form.

It is the molten mass of rock and metals, found between crust and mantle. The tectonic plates(riughly the continents) float over it.
