My friends feed their dogs dry pet food, Ol'Roy and Pedigree, and their dogs are getting sick!! They say there is no recall on dry pet food but I beg to differ! Has anyone seen anything about dry dog food being recalled yet? I really care for my friends dogs and don't want anything bad to happen to them, but I can't find any info. on dry food.

In your question you never stated how old the dogs are, but if they are puppies you have to be careful of the size of the food. Puppies can only have small bites. Their tummies cant digest the big bites so they end up throwing it up. Here is a link about the recall on wet food.. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17650075/?GT1=9145 and this is the list of wet food that has been recalled http://www.menufoods.com/recall/product_dog.html .

I have heard that they are now suggesting dry food also be recalled. It is very hard to find information on this as Menu Foods is sticking to just the cuts and gravy wet food recall. I think they will find that the dry is also contaminated - they are very slow to come out with info. I think there is another guy on here who had a dog who died after eating Pedigree dry. Peta is demanding further investigation into this whole recall. You could try their web site - (I think it is Peta.org) to access more info. Other brands not involved in the recall may also use the imported wheat from China - we need to know!

My mom's dog eats dry Bruiser (which the wet was on the recall list). He started vomiting and wouldn't eat or drink. He's been in and out of the vet's for a week now, and even had to stay overnight a few days. At first they thought it was renal kidney failure, now it turns out he now has Addison's disease. The dog is still sick, his hind legs hurt so bad he can hardly walk, and now he has to take a pill every day and get injections once a month. So far this has cost her almost $900 in vet bills. There has GOT to be some connection to the dry food!!! It came out of nowhere and the vet says this is only the second case he saw in 10 years! But yet, nobody will listen!

So far they say dry dog food is OK. But I am not convinced. If they sprayed the fields with rat poison how do they know that dry food is not contaminated!

Attention: Amazonia
My dog eats Nurto dry food and got ill on 3-4-07 they say its Addsions disease. It came out of no where one day up running and playing started getting ill not eating within 32hrs she almost died. She is mix breed and 7 to 9 yrs. old. What did the ACTH test come out like, how old is the dog, whats the breed, did they do an EKG how were those results, They say that poisoning would not cause the gland to malfunction but what if something is being over looked???

I don`t remember ever seeing a recall on dry food. I know a lot of people who feed their dogs this but I have never heard of them getting sick from it. Dogs are carnivores and should realy have meat as well to keep their systems healthy, my dog has both the biscuit for added vitamins and to help keep his teeth clean. Best to check with your vet, if it is the dry food it could have been contaminated in some way.

My 5 year old healthy, indoor lab/chow mix died Monday from kidney failure. We have been feeding her pedigree for quite some time, but a week ago ran out so we picked up a different kind of pedigree dry food from a nearby kroger. A week later she died. I started noticing symptoms Sat night, vomiting and diarreha. After researching her symptoms online most of the day on Sunday I come to the conclusion it was renal failure. Then I caught the 8 o clock news and saw the story. I thought this cannnot be a coincidence. We had her bloodwork done Monday morning at 9 and then she died at 2 pm. We got the bloodwork back later that day confirming my research, renal/kidney failure. She went from a perfectly healthy dog to this in 2 days. I've been trying to warn everyone I know with pets to not take the news as the truth.. they may not know the scope of the issue. We even tried to alret Fox news to get the word out. I am not sure what to believe, but she was perfectly healthy, always crated if I am not there, and only goes outside to use the bathroom and then wants back in.. thats how she was.. there are no toxins she could have gotten into.......... when we got the results back from the vet he sd her BUN level was 125. He actually used the phrase "like she had gotten into rat poison or something of that nature" this is pissing me off. no one wants to listen.. everyone's saying its just the wet food bc thats what they hear on tv. There are going to be more and more reported cases of dry food (PEDIGREE) being linked to this. But I cant get the word out on anything but yahoo answers. pedigree wont return calls, fda, fox news, no one.

I have not heard of a dry food recall, and heard the reason "wet" was recalled was due to an ingredient that when sealed causes bacteria! Someone messed up at the factory!

my cousins dog who is 3 1/2 is eating dry IAMS dog food and has kidney failure. I believe dry dog food is going to be recalled even though they say nothing is wrong with it. My dog is also eating that and i am worried if he will get sick too.

no recall yet on dry foods. specifically, canned foods that are chunky with gravy and pouched foods. keep in mind that ol'roy and pedigree are basically low grade dog foods. they're nothing but fillers and about a year ago there was a RUMOR that ol'roy was possibly responsible for liver failure in dogs. over time dogs can develop allergic reactions to the wheat (main ingredient in low grade foods) and other fillers. also, there's alot of fluus and colds going around and dogs are susceptible to them as much as people are.
