Leucippus - Founded the systemknown as atomism .He established bboth the law of casuality and the principal of sufficient reason .
Anaximenes - According to him ,all things evolve from the primary matter ,air , and return to it .
Heraclitus - According to him FIRE was the prime material in nature ,for it was the most capable of change and motion .

So it was THALES of MILETUS who held WATER to be the primary element of all that exists.
