We live in different states and only call eachother once in a while ....I have tried keeping in touch with her through email but she normally only emails me when she is forwarding a joke or something. It's usually when she sends a mass email. So yesterday she sent forward to me some sort of spam, and I called her on it. I said "thanks for the sentiment, but I wish you would email me sometime without spam...."
Well she answered me back and was really angry and hurt.
I was only being honest and I wasn't trying to be insulting.
Am I right or am I wrong?

You are right about the spam, wrong about the comment about emailing her otherwise. Even though you tried to be nice, it sounded like you were complaining. Send her an email telling her that you did not mean to be hurtful to her, but you had not heard from her in awhile, and that getting a mass email made you feel like a mass email, and not a friend.
