My bf lives in Colorado, the wife is a foreigner and lives in another country, the Philippines which recognizes divorce laws of the US if one of the couple is a US citizen. What is the process for divorce in Colorado for this situation and how long does it take?

its actually not desertion coz the wife never came to the US. she never wanted to. so she stayed in the Philippines while the husband worked in the US.

He (not you) needs to hire an attoprney, who will answer all of these questions for him. As a matter of fact, most attorneys will advise you on a case without money ever changing hands, just to give you basic information.
He can divorce her without her signing paperwork, as long as reasonable attempts are made to contact her. Any divorce lawyer can tell him how -- if he really wants to divorce her, and isn't just enjoying having a wife and a girlfriend, too.

if you mean...the husband is a US national...or he was simply granted a US citizenship because this is different thing - in the Philippines...there's no such thing as divorce if both of them were Filipinos or WAS a filipino but if the husband is really a full blooded US national he can divorce her anytime but there's another obstacle if she's willing to sign the divorce papers. good luck ;>

Its very simple to get a divorce in many places. There are books in local bookstores how to do it without an attorney. My advice is to consider moving to PI.
