I had the pleasure of seeing Roger Maris play for all of his career. I'm here to tell you that there was MUCH more to Roger's game than many people know. He played his heart out all the time. He was the MVP two years in a row on a team full of MVP's. I believe he has four rings. He is the only player with two MVP's who is not in the HOF. He held the record for most single season home runs longer than any player in history. So yeah, as a kid growing up and even more now, I'm a Roger Maris fan.

That being said, the guy selling that card is delusional. Its not even a vintage card. You find some good deals on ebay, but this guy is a lunatic if he thinks that card is worth that kind of jack.

I would say Roger Maris is one of the biggest class acts in the history of baseball, but I would never pay that much for a card.

Sure - class guy. But not enough to lay out that much jack for a new card that you could get lucky and get in a box of cards.

I am a Yankee fan and Roger was before my time. I respect what he went through physically in 1961 when he broke Babe's single season HR record. However, with that said, I don't think I'd pay $1,175 for his card.
