labor board won't help you out..as taking your daughter to doctor has absolutely nothing to do with your job.... pending on the discussion you had with your boss, you can very easily be fired for "withdrawing your services"...and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.

Obviously you must have taken her when you were scheduled to work. It doesn't sound like an emergency, or you would've taken her to the hospital instead. If you missed multiple days for a child with chronic illness, you can't expect an employer to pay you for nothing. You were not performing the job you were hired to do. Most states are work-at-will. I believe reporting your ex-employer is a waste of your time.

Depending on what state you work in an employer can terminate you for any reason, or no reason.

Depending on the dicussion you had with your boss regarding the appointment, the time you are taking off, notice, etc. one would expect him to be reasonable about it, but he is not required by law to accomodate your scheduling of appointments.

I would discuss it with my local labor board, and see what the laws are in your state.

I have worked for employers before who consider doctors appointments to be an unexcused absence because they can (and should if at all possible) be scheduled on your time, not the companies.

it depends on how many times you havent gone to work befor. if you have missed a few days without an excuse then you should be fired. maybe your boss has another reason for fireing you such as sloppy work. but if its only over you takeing your own daughter to the doctor then, yes i would report them.

That would be awful, but I wouldn't put it past some employers.

If you do take her to the doctor, be sure to get a note from him/her as proof.

If you feel that you have been wrongfully terminated, talk to a local employment lawyer (most lawyers have free consultations) about what can be done.

Yes you should. It is not your fault to bring people to doctors.
