As long as I 've known him (5 yrs) he hasn't had a girlfriend (and he's very good looking). I've only come to desire him in the last year. Now it is unrepentant with Lust. I LOVE him. How do I get over him? He's probably straight, but I can only dream.

I've been in a similar situation as you... not nearly as long, but I've lusted and cared for a straight friend very much. Have you ever had this conversation with him??? Maybe he shares the same feelings perhaps. I find it relatively odd that he hasn't had a girlfriend in such a long time...
Maybe you can talk to him and see where he's at... and you never know what could transpire.

Well you say "he's probably straight", which means you don't know for sure. So instead of driving yourself insane and developing some unhealthy fixation. Find out if he is or not. You might be lucky. If not you won't be able to have him but at least you will know and you can get over it, because there will be no what if's.

More to the point, why would you desire someone that you clearly can't have? Answer that question and you will probably find the answer to getting over that guy and finding someone right for you.

I'm sorry to say but you're probably going to have to get over this guy. You can't change his sexual orientatoin, just as nobody can change yours. Unless you're thinking he may be gay, I think you should move on.

truthfully what the 1st answerer stated. Hes no longer in the footwear of a gay man or woman, so he cant carry something out in my opinion. the main they are in a position to do is combat any homophobia he encounters

reveal your sexualkity to him, as a friend, and go from there. but make no assumptions about his sexuality or his willingness to accept yours, realize that you may lose a friend in the mix.
