They're called Tribbles.

They are "Tribbles" from the episode "The Trouble With Tribbles". And you're right, they're loving, cooing creatures that are born pregnant, the more they eat, the more they multiply; and Klingons not only detest them - they detest Klingons, so you could say in spite of beeing little fur balls, they do have good taste.

These are called tribbles. They were featured in "The Trouble with Tribbles" in the original series and "Trials and Tribble-ations" in Deep Space Nine. They were also in an episode of Enterprise, although I don't remember which one. Dr. Phlox fed one to one of his many pet lizards. On a side note, tribbles could be seen in the background in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock" and "Star Trek: Generations" as well as many unimportant episodes of the different shows.
