I've heard about this story. You'd think the animal rights activists would WANT the infant polar bear to survive or at least be helped to survive. Their line of thinking is that the mother suspects deformity or something else in the cub, thus a mother bear would not waste her valuable resource in a 'wild' setting raising a lost cause. However, this is NOT the wild, and the mother bear will never have lack of resource. The nature of capitivity could well indeed have affected the mother bear so much, that her will to bring forth a new generation has been lost. The cub may very well be completely healthy (and the zoo doctors would know this too).

one idiot in germany makes a stupid statement about killing a baby polar bear and people turn it into a whole "this is what liberals think" comment.

The guy was stupid. He doesn't speak for anyone but himself (and maybe a handful of other moonbats out there). There's nothing wrong with the zoo raising the polar bear.

I agree, but why should we kill any animal for sport?
In the U.S., not many of us have to kill to put food on the table.
However, because man has altered his environment, he know has to take over as natures conservationist and sometimes this calls for hunting.

What? I am not sure as to what you are talking about or what kind of point you are trying to make.........maybe you could rephrase the question with a few more details so that we can understand what you are referring to.
