How can I get Internet hooked up to my laptop without having a phone line ?

you can get high speed internet over the same wire that is used for cable tv that will cost about $50 a month if you do not want use a wire get a wireless connection with a router. you local eletronic store such as best buy if you are in the USA can tell you what you will need

There is cable - in my area it is called RoadRunner. Also, Verizonwireless offers a broadband service. It works just like a cell phone for your computer.
