#1....It helps if you're a chick. Girls can totally get more money than guys. (I know this because I was often hard pressed for gas and cigarette money as a teenager.)
#2....Hell no, unless I truly believe them and trust me, I am not easily fooled. Most of the panhandlers around my area are simply crackheads or drunks looking for their next fix.
#3...Hell no, I'm more likely to give to someone who looks like a hard-working decent person who maybe ran out of gas and needs some help or money for a phone call. Bums should get jobs!!!
#4....yes it is.... (but like I said earlier.... not when you're a chick....I had guys giving me $5 and $10 bills if I asked.)
#5.....No, I wouldn't call it that. More like begging....
#6..... yes, and they are almost always some crack head that I've seen hanging around begging for money like a million times before.... and if they weren't I just might believe their story. It's easy for me to spot a junky.

Anyway, why are you asking this stuff? If you're not 16 and bored, I suggest you get a job instead. I have 2 and only give money to people who really need it.

You asked your question at the wrong time.

Come back and ask late at night Eastern US to have the biggest chance of running into the panhandler that makes a good enough living to have a computer and internet access.

I rarely give to panhandlers as I prefer to give to charity, but would me more likely to help someone who appears stranded than to hand money to a street person.

Panhandling or begging...is unlawful in most places. There is no need for someone with internet access to be even considering something like that...you are counting pennies when you can be counting thousands working on the net. Helping others less fortunate is normal but its better to teach a person to fish rather than give him a fish.
