Well ahimsa was very successful as we all know at the times of Gandhi ji.But now times have changed.Today's generation believes in violence. But Ahimsa , Gandhi ji had said ,was not a weapon for the weak and cowardly.Only brave ones could practice it. After all it required a lot of courage to show love to those who were doing wrong. But a true Satyagrahi could not stoop to evil.Indeed it's the choice of one to decide whether he wants to go for violence or believe in the policy of Satyagraha.

In real World there is both Ahimsa and Violence. An individual may follow Ahimsa way of life but a society cannot. During freedom struggle we knew who our enemies are now we don't. As a society if we have to follow ahimsa we will have to give up police and army. Can we do that? Gandhiji was a great human being, we cannot expect the same behaviour from masses, even during his time it was not possible. Finally violence is not always bloody, there can be emotional, speech, economic, ill will or behaviour and such other violence where blood is not seen.

If you follow Ahimsa today, you are considered as incapable. If do violence, then it is a crime. What would you like to do?For me,before taking up Ahimsa or violence, the reason is very important. For a good cause you can take up the needed one according to the situation.

It may be a bad phase the world is going through - so much of violence around.

My firm belief is that at the end, only Ahimsa (Love within the mankind) prevails. So, we have to bear on till the phase changes.

Even in present days Ahimsa speaks more. But unfortunately more and more violence is taking place and media coverage as well as fear by society is blowing this to big proportion.

All the same as far as possisble, we should follow path of Ahimsa. It gives us inner confidnence while violence begets violence.

Nice question dear. I would support Ahimsa. What is happening today is just a phase in the graph. This is not the end. The end will be won by Ahimsa. A lot happened during our freedom struggle. Lot of people mid way thought the same.. why ahimsa , lets revolt. But , we all know, finally it was Ahimsa which won. Thanks.

Non violence is indeed an ideal philosophy of life. It is worth practising as an individual dharma. Non-violence as a state policy is impractical. Fairness and rule of law are as good as ahimsa in the governance of societies and nations. Force or threat of force is necessary for establishment of order and law. We must be weighing the pros and cons of all situations and be pragmatic for the welfare of common people and be not swayed by blind infatuations with ideals.

Though it appears that due to extravagance, publicity and drastic action Violence speaks better, in the long run it is the other partner that wins!!! Sooner or later the protagonists of violence will run out of steam (funding, arms, manpower) Because violence requires helluva lot of investments whereas Ahims just requires will power and resolve. It is bound to win because Truth is there too.

Though this question has been debated for quite long and will be, self-restaint is the most powerful device that can be used against evil of any degree.Self- restaint not only showcases your strong and fearless persona but also makes your allies aware that they can be caught by a slip of their toungue.Self-restraint was advocated by many people and continues to be one of the most effective tools in the present scenario also.
