gently massage their tummy and or lower back

Good Morning Renee, you are on the right track. Warm bath will sooth them, then follow up with gentle tummy rubs. Either use the bottom of your flat hand and gently place on the tummy then rub in a circular motion with little pressure or use index and middle finger on the tummy. However, you have to be very easy and careful, their little intestines are so fragile. I read the other answers too and many suggest karo syrup, which is, in general a good solution but you must be sure it is constipation and not something else. If babie's stool is hard and/or the baby cries while trying to poop, it could have a more serious reason behind it. In any case, my son (now 15 yrs. old and healthy as a horse :) thank God!) had always had digestive problem when he was little. I found out that, when giving him apple juice or apple sauce, his stool always became softer immediately. I nursed him for 9 months but always gave him a little apple on the side. Be it in the form of juice or in the form of sauce. It doesn't have to be especially for baby, but in that case dilute 1:1. Even baby juice I always diluted because it tends to be too sweet and, while you might solve a problem now, you may have others (teeth issues) later and surely, you don't want that. Also, try and keep a log to see what it is that ultimately caused the constipation. It might be something in his/her diet that causes the problem. If you nurse, it could also be something you eat and that doesn't agree with him/her. Again, a log/ledger would be helpful here. Hope you can resolve this problem quickly. A constipated baby is never a happy camper :( and an unhappy baby can upset the entire household. In case none of these solutions help, please do check with the pediatrician. Sometimes it's enough if you just call the office and speak to a nurse. Good luck and cherish this time. It's over before you know it and they grow so quickly...

Prunes - 1/2 a jar at next 2 feedings - you should see results - it really works.
The other alternative is gross but it also has it's merits.. but please check with your Dr before this as some have issues with it- mine never did infact thats where i learned about this..

Glycerine suppositories are helpful to relieve your child if there is some hard stool that just won't come out easily. The suppository melts in the heat of the rectum and lubricates the stool. The act of insertion also serves to stimulate the rectum and anus to initiate the defecation reflex. (Glycerine is completely safe - it is a food, found in candy, not a drug.)

Gently hold babies legs up with knees bent towards stomach and rub oil moisturiser around anus gently (do not force ) hold open and help baby. Nicely talking to him/her all the time. Offer water from the bottle on a daily basis add a little sugar to encourage drinking to begin with. Sugar will help clean out when constipated. Cut out the sugar when baby is use to water. if baby is badly constipated a baby sypository may be necessary this dosn't hurt them and sometimes must be done. If you can't do this yourself ask your mother or mother inlaw to do it.

continuously giving her the supposetories is a undesirable concept. Her physique will start to % them to poop and the muscle tissues down there gets susceptible so she could be waiting to not have the potential to bypass on her own. The cereal and bananas might prefer to be her difficulty. i might decrease those from her weight-loss plan. strengthen the quite a few end result and greens she is getting. Peaches, prunes, pears, carrots, squash and subject concerns like that are extra effective efficient strategies. you provides her 2 oz...of prune, apple or grape juice mixed with 2 oz...of cooled boiled water as rapidly as an afternoon. yet yet another ingredient that replaced into pronounced with the aid of my infant's checklist and labored amazingly proper replaced into to place an oz... of dark Karo Syrup into 4 oz...of into 4 oz...of formula. you're waiting to try this 2 cases an afternoon to get subject concerns shifting and then proceed it as rapidly as an afternoon to help save her prevalent. Teething oftentimes motives the quite a few difficulty of diarrhea. i've got have been given in no way heard of it inflicting constipation.

You could try a DROP of cod liver oil in his/her bottle of formula each day, if he/she is still breastfeeding give him a teaspoon of purified water every day (but I'm guessing that he is on formula). Make sure that you are following the directions on how to prepare the formula for a 7mth old accurately because making the formula too thick or thin can cause complications. Also you can give him a little feeding of puried prunes or just a little prune juice (dilated).

Call your babies doctor, they need to confirm that it is constipation, if you need to, reduce the amount of formula and increase the amount of water in the diet.
Babies get sick alot and your pediatrician is expecting you to call ALOT. That's their job to help you.
Babies should come with owners manuals dont u think?

corn syrup will work if it is constipation but go easy, remember it is natural so only do 1 or 2 water bottles, then wait and let mother nature do its thing slowly.

Please DO NOT introduce new foods now, if your baby hasn't eaten it before, do not introduce now!!!! It will be more difficult to recognize an allergic reation. Remember, no aspirin at all, tylenol is ok.

A tablespoon of corn syrup will do the trick. The sugar acts as a laxitive. This is an old, old family remedy that my Grandma told me when my son was a baby. Some people use Karo (sp?) instead.

We always used Karo syrup and mixed it in with his formula. It sounds silly, but it works wonders. And to make him feel better until it kicks in, give him a back massage or a warm bath (like you have already). Good Luck!

There are suppositories you can use and Gerber makes a prune/apple juice. A little juice worked great for my son. 20 min after he drank it it kicked in. I only used the suppositories twice (recommended by pediatrician) but I didn't like to and it's not easy.
