I have a 1 yr old baby girl. She has been using a sippy cup very well since she was 5 months old. Since I had such a hard time getting my first born to let the bottle go, I recently put my baby's bottles away. She has been doing fine without them, but I wonder is she too young? Also she still wakes sometimes at night because she is thristy, I know it is bad to give them juice at night, so what cn I do about that? When ever she is given juice, my husband and I always dilute her juice 1/2 juice 1/2 water. Thanks!

It's okay to give your daughter some pure, plain water at night. This will keep the tooth decay at bay. Otherwise, I think your daughter has done fabulously changing over to a cup. I suspect you know that and you just want to hear other people say it too...so there ya go...you've done a smashing job of mothering dear! Pat yourself on the back, and 3 cheers for mum...Pip Pip HOORAY!

Not to young at all. Sippy cups are the same thing as a bottle technically anyway. It gives the same comforting that a bottle does and holds the same addictive profile. Give regular cups as much as possibe so she eventually learns to use those and gets off the sippy cups by 2 or 3. As for juice at night, absolutely a bad thing to do, good call on that. It'll rot her teeth. If she's waking thirsty give her water. My son drank water at night from about a year old. Mind you we didn't introduce juice until well after so you may have a harder time.

No that's not too young. My niece's baby was broke from her bottle when she was 6 months, she loved her sippy cup. Of course mom was helping her with it. It wasn't like she was able to drink it on her own at that point, but she learned quickly. Maybe you could just try giving her plain water during the night instead of juice. It might help with 2 things, 1. she won't be getting the sugar on her teeth during the night and 2. it might help her with sleeping through the night, she might not want the water and if she sees that's all she's going to get, it might discourage her from waking. Don't worry, it sounds to me like you are doing an excellent job!!! She's a lucky little lady to have such good parents!!!

No that's perfectly fine that she is drinking from a sippy cup (if she is comfortable with it) and it seems that she is or she would have shown signs a long time ago. However, if she wakes at night for a drink you should give her a bottle of formula instead because it is not even recommended that adults have fruit juice at night, even if it is diluted and the formula will help her to sleep longer as it is heavier.

If she's not asking for the bottle and she's getting enough fluids she's perfectly fine my dear! My oldest was 13 months when we took hers away. Always trust and follow your mom instincts!
As for the waking at night, this is probably a habit and not a need. What I can suggest is switch right away to only water and slowly decrease the amount that you put in her cup. When there will be only a few drops left that you will put in her cup she might find that it's not worth waking anymore and stop asking for her cup at night!
I hope this works!

I dont think she is too young to give up the bottle especially as she is doing so well without them. As for the juice thing, if you dont want her to be waking in the night give her some juice right before she goes to bed and make sure you say to her that if she is thirsty she drinks now and not later, my mum did this with one of my sisters at this age and it worked for her, she stopped waking in the night after about a week.
Good luck

if she tolerates it then it isn't to early at all, keep the bottles gone and let her have the cup. try just water at nite, the main reason pediatricans don't like the bottle in bed is that it would be a security thing and also the sugar for the teeth. if she really is thirsty she will drink the water.

If she can handle a sippy cup, she isnt too young. I would just let her have water at night.
