This polar bear being raised in the zoo do you think it is right? I mean this happens a few times. Just recently watching a show on Animal Planet where they had a baby cub raised to about a year old, and then intergrated with two female polar bears. So I see nothing wrong with this. Your view? Thanks.

I think it would be wrong to kill the polar bear, or any animal for that matter. If we can save an animals' life than why not??Plus polar bears are at risk for extension.

Particularly with animals like polar bears that require a lot of space, are threatened in the wild and don't breed well in captivity: I believe that if there is a wild animal and it is possible then it should be rehabilitated and released into the wild. If he's too humanised then a zoo is the next best option (no-one wants a fully-grown wild male polar bear galloping happily toward them). A decent zoo is better than euthanasia, certainly.

It is difficult to keep polar bears well and I have seen them kept very badly in some zoos. There has to be provision to cool them down in hot weather, room to swim, room to roam, regular environmental enrichment. There has to be an understanding that these are bears without a specific territory who in the wild will roam hundreds of kilometres every year.

I don't know the specific case you're talking about, but each has to be judged on its own merits.

Well, I'm an animal lover so it would be hard for me to ignore an animal in need. Maybe they shouldn't have saved the bear, but they did. Since the bear is thriving, I think it would be more wrong to kill it now, the way some activists are suggesting. The people that saved the bear said that this bear may some day be a stud to keep the population going. To me that would be a good thing, since it's probably human behavior and activities that are threatening it's existence in the first place. The least we can do is save the ones we can.

God brought that bear into the world for a reason. Why kill a healthy animal cuz it was born? They r like u and me they dont ask to be born so give him a chance to live. He will be taken care of.What if there was a group of people that decided to kill off our offspring cuz there was too many or u couldnt give them the care they need.Think about it No adoption or foster care we just kill those kids that had no choice to be born.Sounds sick dont it.Its the same for animals.Did you ever take a puppy home as a pet while their parents were around? Did you or can you look at the parents eyes? I did and I saw the hurt cuz I was walking off with their son and they would never see him again.Amimals do have feelings and if they can keep them happy somehow its all for the good. All animals r here for a reason and that bear is no different than us.Hes healthy so let him live

I think it is amazing that a small group of people call themselves animal activists and are willing to let an animal die instead of allowing a zoo to care for it, raise it and keep it safe. I personally wish I had this much time as to devote my life to a polar bear that will, in years to come, probably try to eat me. These zealots need some serious interventions on how to get lives.

Considering all of the hoopla about Global Warming there is a good chance that the only place people will be able to see Polar Bears will be in zoos. I think it is a good thing..zoos that are willing to try to keep endangered animals alive through conservation and propagation.

if you are a true animal lover and a naturalist, then killing an animal is NOT the option. these polar bears have waay better life in the zoo, where they are regularly fed then in the wild, because in the wild their foodsources are diing out. i saw on tv that polar bears have to swim much more to get food then they used =(

I think the little guy is going to have a nice life in a zoo where everyone will care for him, he will get his meals, have a nice habitat and vet care as needed. Those animal "advocates" are crazy to think of him being killed, I don't get that at all.

I have no problem with animals raised in captivity as long as they are kept in humane conditions. Often this is the only way to keep the animal from extinction and is a good way to learn about other creatures.

I don't see anything wrong with raising an abandoned cub & I like the tactics they use to try and raise them in the wild the way their parents would...it's always good to see them released back becaue thats where they belong.
