No. He/she is a fully paid professional. His/her income does not depend on tips. The "tip" is already included in the very high rates you will be charged.
Now if you feel that they did something above and beyond what is to be expected, ESPECIALLY if they didnt charge you for something extra, then you could give them a tip.
I think the best tip that a repairman would like would be something like a coke, some homemade lemonade, maybe some homemade cookies, etc.

whether you tip someone or not is surly up to you...if you are satisfied with the job they did ....tips are not required but are solely at the discretion of the person having the work done....I have been tipped many times for a job well done ...I got a fifty dollar tip last week after replacing a fan motor and blower wheel for a central air unit...the job cost was over two hundred dollars before he gave me a tip..i am a self employed business owner

Coming from a HVAC Technician of 16 yrs., I would say that it isn't necessary to tip him for his work. Doing the job right and customer satisfaction is enough for us. Most techs receive a pretty decent wage for their work so I would have to say.....no thank you.

Not the repairman, but if he has a helper you might slip him a couple of bucks on the side

those guys aren't bashful about charging an arm and a leg, so no i would not be inclined to tip. however, if he were to perform a service that was not in the original estimate, and decided to not add it to the bill, then a tip would be called for (and probably expected)
