12 ft x 14 ft = 168 sq ft total, BUT an area 2 x 4 ft = 8 sq ft will not be tiled, so 168 - 8 = 160

Answer C

If you tiled the whole floor, you would need 12 x 14 = 168 tiles. However, the area that is not to be tiled would use 2 x 4 = 8 tiles.

168 - 8 = 160 tiles
