Yes it will be appropriate, and necessary. The question is when? too soon and the country falls apart (there are those that think it can't get worse than it is, but it would) the insurgents take over and the country is worse than when we went in, factional fighting takes a huge toll and the US becomes a bigger target for terrorists (One of the main reasons Iran hates us is because the US helped install the Shah, one of the worst dictators they had ever had) So we do need to stay there, train their troops and policemen and help them establish a working govt, that the people are comfortable with, then we should leave completely, and only give whatever aid they request.

Not from Afghanistan because it was a legitimate target. I will go to my deathbed wondering why in the world we attacked Iraq. I think we made a huge mess there. The best thing we can do now is bolster the Iraqi forces and withdraw. I'm just afraid that even if we leave, we'll end up being forced to return.

Yes, there really is nothing to be fought there anymore. Any idiot knows that you can't fight an idea, and Bush likely just used this war to slingshot his way to presidency in the second term. I won't be surprised if the war ends once his term does.
We are also forgetting that they invaded Iraq in the first place because some fool told Bush that there were WMD's there. We know now that this isn't true, yet we continue the war because of a perceived terrorism threat.
It is stupid, has plunged a country into civil war, and has probably reduced the quality of life in the Middle East. Iraq wasn't that unlike US or Canada, before the war. Sure, they had thousands of starving homeless people living in shelters, but uh, so do we. They're called homeless people.
