Do wage garnishment laws depend on the state that you live in or the state you work in?

I live in PA but work in NJ. Do I need to worry about wage garnishment due to the fact that I work in NJ?

You really need to ask this of your attorney. However, unless there is a reciprocal agreement between the two states, I'd presume that your wages cannot be garnished by a court order from another state. However if you receive your wages from a company that is based in your home state, but has you working elsewhere, then you could probably have your wages garnished.
