Did you all know that last night in the House of Lords the final vote for the Equalities Act was passed???
This means that from 30th April 2007 gay people will no longer be able to be refused goods and services just because we are gay!!
About time eh?

To danworth D - firstly you dont even live in this Country so how do you know whether a problem exists or not?
And secondly I would like to be able to book a hotel room and not be refused a double room just because I wish to share with my g/f. So yes the problem does exist.

Cisje - no we are not allowed to get "married" but we do have civil partnerships. Its basically the same but in a non-religious way. We are not allowed to marry in churches.

Welcome to the 21st century and here's hoping things will now move quickly to full equality as we have in Canada.
Edit: I can't help but laugh at the two straight men who, having never faced bigotry, have the nerve to even speak on an issue they know absolutely nothing about. Walk in our shoes first boys, then you get to be taken seriously.

WOW, no I didn't know...but I'm an American so I wouldn't have known...either way...CONGRATS!!
It's about time!!
Good for you and your country!!
My state just passed a vote to allow a "Civil Unions and Religious Freedom Act" out of committee and into the General Assembly for a full house vote. I'm a little excited! (but sensibly so...not holding my breath)
Anyway...Bully for Great Brittan....I would have thought that this would have been established along with or even before Civil Unions were allowed, but I'm still very happy for you!

Yes, very much overdue in my opinion...
Didn't know that about the UK...thought that you already had such a law...
In Belgium, this happened years ago...
Does this mean that the service of marriage is open then to?

I think it's wrong - the Catholic adoption part. It only got passed because of Labour's filling up the Lords with their spineless servants. The majority is against this interference. New Labour will be swept away in the next election. Enjoy your victory dance whilst you can.
I see the typical down thumb intolerence from gays- no wonder some people think (some of you) are sick. You have no right to adopt!!!
