1. A teaching assistant, who is studying for her teaching qualifications, told a girl, who was trying to disrupt an exam that her classmates were taking, that she was acting like a spoilt baby.
The result a severe reprimand for the teaching assistant. Apparently it's non-PC to tell a child they are misbehaving.
2. At another school this week, a twelve year old boy attacked a female teaching assistant and then threw a mug of hot coffee in her face.
He then threatened that he and his dad knew people who would get her, and she was going to get a kicking.
The result, he got a two week suspension from school. The teaching assistant is off on sick leave, afraid to return to her job.
Does not the Education Department have a duty of care towards their staff?
Do any of these incompetent managers, brought in to run our schools, have any inkling of the anarchy they are creating in the classrooms?
Something is seriously wrong with our schools and like all rot it starts at the top.

Well, it's exactly because of this generalised deterioration of behaviour in classrooms that I've left teaching 5 years early.I didn't teach in the inner cities, with all their problems, but in a nice middle class town in the Westcountry.
I had no difficulties with discipline and enjoyed working with children very much.It was the drip, drip, drip of the poor behaviour of a minority in every class, together with weak reaction to it the from the management, that made me ,and many others , give up early.
The Headteacher would never back his staff if they had a serious problem with a child. Also, if the parents were of the type who can't believe or accept that their child is naughty [yes I've said THAT word] then he would retreat and leave one to battle on alone.
Children who are naughty [and stupid/reckless] will always go as far as they dare, the rest of the children will observe the adult response to this and, if the child 'gets away with it', they will feel emboldened enough to join in with the bad behaviour. This is what we are also seeing in the wider society outside the classrooms.
It's 'bleedin' obvious' innit?

I'm not an expert on this matter, but I'll try to answer it the best I can.
1: I think that maybe it was a stressful day for that teacher..Plus trying to disrupt an exam isn't exactly getting you brownie points with her in the first place. When I was in school, I got told I was misbehaving every day..(and I still do, lol.)
2: Maybe the kid and the teacher really didn't have that good of a relationship. Plus, the first thing that comes to my mind is that he doesn't like school in the first place, and having a teacher on his back all day really got on his nerves. There really is no telling what a kid will do these days..
Though here, I think the punishment was what it should be. Maybe even more.
The truth is, the Education Deparment does have care for it's staff. I'm not exactly sure how you got a hold of the information about those two inccidents, but I'm willing to guess these were just unfortunate accidents. The reprimand for the teacher was because her (supposive) stress could have amounted to something more, and could have been a real problem.
The inccident with the kid WAS a serious problem, and I still say the punishment should have been more. That's ASSUALTING a teacher, for God's sakes! Usually assistant teachers are really stressed out anyway, so I'm sure she needed the break.
..I'm not really sure what more to say. Though I hope my explanation shed some light on some things.
Good luck!

The animals are running the farm!!!
We are anally politically correct and kids know the rules.
This week i have drawn a line with my son attending a detention (along with the rest of his class) because the teacher wrote the work sheet and missed out vital information off of it causing alot of confusion, and this isn't the first time he has done this either, but don't get me wrong i am more than happy to back the school if hasn't done homework due to him being neglectful but for a teacher, and as a compromise my son asked if he could this information at break time or dinner time as he has to catch the school coach home and he was told 'NO' and a veiled threat from the teacher, wheres the respect there. That's my experience this week.

Of course it is easy to focus on all the bad that happens in our schooling system but for every bad child there are umpteen good ones.
Children who behave like that should be sterilised to prevent the filth gene passing onto the next generation of professional dole dossers.

the same old public colleges equipment is failing our childrens. I went to public colleges, taught in public colleges and temporarily sent my daughters to public colleges (5 mos) until now I took them out. the colleges fail by way of fact the government is working them! They throw a lot of money on the colleges and then scratch their heads while the youngsters do no longer learn. there is too lots examine tape, too lots political correctiveness and too lots attempting out. there is not any motivation for the youngsters - think of related to the terrible monotony and tedium of a school day and you will see why. we are homeschooling our childrens now. i provides them with a extra appropriate education than the same old public colleges.

Us kids are spoiled now aday. My dad (a teacher) says that if he got a pound for every time he was threatened to be sued he would be able to quit his job. One of my old substitute teachers almost lost her job because she stopped a spoiled brat throwing a pair of scissors at me! Children are untouchable and i think it is ridiculous!

well sometimes when bad things happened it happened...and it wont be repaired..instead forgotten...case like this could be danger and infect other schools, maybe company, anything...
so before it spread and become a common desease..I think we should find the source of the "problem"
like maybe this kid have his dad powerfull in society...a miss-use of power and authority..
I dont know....maybe after that report their act to a higher comission..coz these kind of threats would not stop until someone acts..
Maybe these days people have to fight again for their rights
as citizen...
thats my opinion...
thank you
