Because I have heard once that gay men always keep the bottom button of their shirts unbutton as a sign that they are gay.

(Thanks for your answers... Let me tell you that I am a straight female and I am interesting in a man who once or two times had his bottom button of his shirt unfastened and I was wondering if that means that he is gay? I do respect the gay community and by some friends I have heard that rumour of the last button...

Gay .... possible, but not always. Fashionable, yes. Leaving an untucked shirt with the top 1 or 2 and the bottom 1 or 2 buttons unfastened is a style you definitely see in more metropolitan areas, and fashionable people are usually pigeonholed to the homosexual camp. Straight people can look good too!

No, but if I had my bottom shirt-button undone, and saw another man staring at it, I'd know HE was gay.

Sounds like a good idea though, and a lot better than mistaking the window cleaner's leather for a back-pocket handkerchief.

My window cleaner is HOT.

As you have read-this is not a red flag warning that a person is gay otherwise a ton of construction workers have noticed that watching girls pass by is no longer any fun but guy watching is.
I think your date was just being relaxed or forgot to button his shirt.
If you are dating this guy on a regular basis then the chances of him being gay are slim and none.

If that is true then it isn't a very good sign. What if your button comes undone and you don't notice? Or if you are in a hurry and don't realise. I don't know the answer but I think it would be a terrible way to determine if it's true.

I wanted to answer but then I think by now you have it. One thing, in the olden days a part of the gay community used to hang different coloured handkerchiefs out their back pockets, left pocket meaning the opposite of right, Master/Slave and all sorts of meanings I have know idea what each colour meant.

And all this time I've been buttoning my shirt all the way. Oh man, I never knew. Maybe that's why I can't seem to get a date. They don't realize I'm gay. Thank you for telling me, I feel so embarrassed.

i'd tell you something, as a gay, i really like to unbutton the bottom button, i don't know, it might get other guy's attention.
straight guys would probably not do that.
i don't know, you might try to get some other clues, then you might get a full picture...

If a woman has the top button of a blouse/top undone does that mean she's a hooker ?
You are thinking of the old 'he's a shirt lifter' saying.

Another myth, when I was younger it was said that you could tell if a man was gay if they left the last button of their jeans undone!

What a daft question. Just because I paint my toe nails does'ent make me a straight woman. We come in all shapes and sizes & not because of the shape of our clothes buttons!!
