Personally, I think children will make fun of each other either way... Instead of avoiding a name because of the possibility of cruel teasing, think of different quirky come-backs to teach him. As far as the name itself: I believe that words have power, and that people live up to their names. Do some serious thinking, away from blogs like this one and others... and concentrate on what YOU feel is best. Your son will have this name for the rest of his life.

I think you should sign the birth certificate while your bf is in the bathroom, lol. I do not like the name Pharoah. I even looked it up in the baby meanings and its not there. I do like Amir spelled Aamir though. Adds a little character, but that would be up to you.

What about Aamir Pharaoh

here are some other egyptian names maybe for middle names instead of Pharaoh:

Akins= brave..
Bes = Brings joy
Gyasi= Wonderful
Hamadi= Praised
Ishaq= laughs
Issa= god saves
Jahi= dignified
Jibade= related to royalty
Khafra=name of a pharaoh
Khalfani= shall rule
Lateef= gentle
Musim= believer
Nassor= victor
Nuru= light
Sethos= name of a prince
Shakir= grateful
Teremun= loved by his father

personally, I think Amir Teremun is beautiful. It means prince who is loved by his father. I also like Amir Akins

Either way, those are just what I found online. I am sure you will find the perfect name for your son regardless. Just be careful. I named my daughter Brianna Marie and found out after the fact it means Strong and Bitter.. too bad it fits her, lol.

If you are Arabic & he will be raised around other Arabic's with similar names then either would be fine. Have you considered naming him Pharaoh Amir and then calling him Amir? Pharaoh could be his legal 1st name but he could be known as Amir.

I like Amir. I don't think Pharahoh is a cute name for any human being. I just had my son 3 months ago (Dec 14 2006) and I named him Amari. I loved that name ever since I was young but don't get no ideas. Thats my boo boos name...Stick with Amir chick. :()
