Yes, it's true. The really bad antisemitic stuff only started after that. I've spoken to people who visited Germany in the 1930s and apart from Der Sturmer newspaper, there was nothing visible before 1938.
They also told me it looked really great the way the government was getting the economy moving again, when Britain and France the governments were doing nothing. Don't forget that foreigners could travel freely in Nazi Germany and people were prepared to talk (with a certain amount of looking over their shoulder first, mind).
On the other hand, if Hitler had died in 1937, there would probably have been chaos as the top Nazis struggled for power. Hitler had always balanced them against each other.
So, my answer is yes, but...

Had Hitler died in 1937 he would probably be remembered as a German transitional leader. His place in history would likely be somewhat obscure--less notable than Paul Von Hindenberg in all probability.
The lesser figures who surrounded and supported Hitler would likely have faded into obscurity, with the possible exception of Dr. Joseph Goebbels, who might well have prospered under a successor to Hitler, even one who was not a Nazi.
I don't think the Nazi movement would have continued in the same form without Hitler, and Germany would likely have been less successful if the inevitable conflicts took place in the 1940's. The conflicts also might well have taken a more political and less military form.
Hitler was largely a product of a cruel and unfair armistice which ended World War I by humiliating and attempting to dismantle the German empire. Some further conflict might have been inevitable, but probably not on the same scale.
I don't think Hitler would be remembered as a great leader under any circumstances. Possibly as an effective administrator.

I don´t think so, though in 1937 the things he had done weren´t so much notorious, but anyway he didn´t did anything special till that time, so I never could tell that he would be a great leader of the world, even if he died before the time he came famous, for the bad reasons he was. The thing is if he won the war, would we have since 1945 the freedom to speak so freely about this matter like you are doing now? Surely if he had won the war, our past from 1945 should be so difrent from what it was, and in that way surely he would be seen as a great leader because of the victory he could have, and no one could be against him, cause then he would be seen as a Idol of the world1 And then he would be great in that poin t of view, but luckily he lost war, and he just became famous about the evil mind and awful things he had done in his last part of his life to all humankind.

As much as Franco is the father of the modern and democratic Spain of nowadays.
Actually, I think you are right. Until a certain moment in time Hitler was a leader like any other and the good things he did surpassed the bad things. But don't tell this to a German: they seemed to me still very sensitive to this matter and excluded a question I made - How Germany and the world would be if Hitler and the war never happened.

If he hadnt plunged the world into war and his dictatorship in germany had been taken over by Rudolph Hess who was his deputy. Then he may have went down as a great german leader. However there would have come a time when facism would have to be destroyed.
There arent too many great fascist leaders in History.

The world woud be very different but if I don't think he would.
He had already killed many people before 1937 & he had disposed of a democracy. Not many people think of Lenin as a great leader.
