I have been a Falcon fan for 35 years and was a season ticket holder from 1986-2006. The Falcons just showed their fans they are dedicated to having a mediocre team for years to come by trading the best quarterback on the team, Matt Schaub to the Texans so they can pick 8th instead of 10th in the draft. They gave him away! I watched the Falcons lose their last 4 home games in 2006. I was paying $65 a seat to watch Michael Vick drop the ball on the ground, make obscene gestures to the fans, and generally self destruct. No more. I saw enough and with the trading of Schaub, I know that the Falcons are not dedicated to winning. Michael Vick is a poor QB who can't read defenses and thus has to run the football whenever his primary receiver is covered so for those who think he's a great runner; it is because he is a poor passer who can't read defenses. I hope other fans will boycott this sad excuse for a team that Arthur Blank has destroyed by keeping Michael Vick, a sad excuse for a QB.

One thing I'd like to add. Vick dropped the ball in Detroit and against Cleveland when no one even hit him. In the Cleveland game White made a super catch on the 10 only to have Vick fumble the game away. The Carolina game made me sick. Defense on the field 41 minutes. Vick totally inept. He is no longer the fastest man on the field. Hall and Norwood beat him in the100 yard dash and most DB's are now faster. Whan a man makes what he makes and plays like he plays he should be criticized.

I feel sorry for you, seriously. Because once Vick flops in Petrino's new "throwing QB centered offense", unless they find a decent backup QB the Falcons may have literally shot themselves in the foot on this one. But at the same time, this may very well be the key at getting Vick out of Atlanta. With Petrino giving him the opportunity to call audibles and run plays, he's only going to have himself to blame if he still can't throw well. And without someone like Schaub to come in and clean up the mess, they'll be ready to get rid of him....without dealing with distaste from the fans. So as much as it will suck this year, look at it as a blessing in disguise. Before it's all over with, it could be the key to getting rid of Michael Vick.

I ask you to have faith in the Atlanta Falcons as I do.
I am also a fan and have had countless headaches because of Vicks performance on the field.
You have to consider several aspects for the reasons behind this trade.
1. It would be harder to trade Vick than Schaub.
- Vick has a very large contract and if the falcons traded him they would be the loser.
2. They were not going to re-sign Schaub by the end of the season. It is good that they got something for his worth instead of letting him walk.
3. Now the Falcons can look forward to improving their team in the draft.
Now for your hatred against Vick, I understand. But I think he had the most drop passes last season. The receiving core was not reliable at all. Also I would give him a second chance because of new coaching. Petrino is going to fuse some new life into this team.
Also last year the Falcons OC and DC were bad. Poor play calling.
As for Atlanta's 1st round pick. I would be very disappointed if they draft a QB. Petrino has already said Vick is the Falcons QB. Getting a QB is not a need for this team and he would sit on the bench and be useless.
The Falcons need in the draft are safeties, defensive ends and O-Linemen. QB is unlikely. I could see them drafting a QB in the later rounds but not in the 1st.
If the Falcons are ever going to go after a QB, don't be surprised if they try to draft Brohm out of Louisville next year.
As to if the Falcons traded away their best QB. I would say no.
- Vick is the leader of the team
- Schaub has had little game experience
Give Vick a chance. I am.

Get off you the Vick scape goat routine please and open your eyes. Ya he has had some bad games but the reason the Falcons struggle is not because of Vick, it is because of the former coaching staff. Every game they would do something different: run the ball most of time, throw the ball most of the time, or just thrown and ran with Vick and not gotten the RB's into the offense. How comfortable would you feel as a quarterback if you went into practice every week not really knowing how you were going to gameplan against a team. Vick can throw the ball when given the opportunity, and run the ball but he cannot be focused on one thing one week and another the next week. Vick needed some sense of a style in the offense and that is what Bobby Petrino will bring. Petrino won't flip flop around with the gameplans like Mora. Even with what we have seen Vick do, anyone in their right mind knows that Vick is better than Schaub. Vick is a game changer, Schaub isn't. All the haters will see that next season.

I am not a big Falcons fan because I don't get to see them that much on TV.
However when Petrino was hired, one of the things that was whispered was that if he wasn't happy with Vick that Vick would get pulled and Schaub would be put in as the QB. By trading Schaub they are letting Vick know that it is his team. Its a gamble, certainly, but the key to the whole thing is seeing what they get for the draft picks they picked up in the deal.
It could also be that with the money they have given to Vick they feel that they have to go with him as the QB (I will be wondering if they pick someone up in the draft).
But just be careful - if you don't like Michael Vick as a person you have to try and seperate that from what happens on the field.

Big mistake on their part. I don't really think Vick is going to want to adopt to the new offense(he will have to *gasp* throw the ball) that the new Coach wants to install. So I don't think Vick lasts long, either that or they prove that Vick is a "coach killer". That is the Falcons choice though, do you want a good coach or a good RB who is a bad QB? I still say this fits in with their history though. They got rid of Farve(which didn't seem as bad at that time and he might have been bad with the Falcons) they got Vick and over-pay him when most know he is hype, would be alright as a RB but not as a QB, and now they get rid of Schaub, KNOWING he is decent as a QB from when he filled in.

Any time you may get 2 severe draft strategies and alter 1st rounders for a million participant that is properly worth it. Schaub had a a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days settlement with Atlanta. interior the offseason Schaub might have left and Atlanta might are transforming into not something for him. The Falcons took those strategies and got here up with a superb DE and a large offensive lineman. Down the line, barring injury, those 2 men would be professional bowlers. they have large actual skills. The Falcons raped the Texans for a participant that has in basic terms started 2 video games, has in basic terms executed fifty two.2% of his passes, and has in basic terms thown 6 TDs while in comparison with 6 INTs. suitable now the backup for Vick is Joey Harrington. Joey Harrington's occupation stats are easily quite reminiscent of Schaub's, in basic terms Harrington is a miles extra matured quarterback. The Texans have been fools for giving up plenty for Schaub. The Falcons are nevertheless going to get the Texans 2d around draft %. next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. If some thing occurs to Vick this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days that is going to be painful to computer screen Joey Harrington run this offense. yet with the WR the Falcons have i don't think of it would easily count who stood interior the pocket till they have Mike Vick velocity. The receivers won't be able to get open to maintain their lives. have confidence me, if Vick is going down the Falcons will suck. yet in spite of Schaub at QB they might suck. the extra 2 severe draft strategies have been relatively properly worth it. This commerce would possibly not help the Falcons on the instant, yet in 3 years it's going to make a extensive helpful impact in this team.

I am a huge falcons fan literally and you people wont know anything till the season starts. Shaub is good but has little experience at that level but when Shaub messes up and cost the Texas's the game your going to be glad its not the falcons but when Vick messes up you wish it was shaub who was playing your just in a no win situation. We don't have Shaub anymore do we so suck it up and move on ya bunch of females this thing happens all the time.

Lots of people like Schaub, but if you look at his career stats, it's way too early to declare that he's better than Vick. He may yet prove to be, but it's far too early to tell. Schaub does get good buzz, but then again, fans always love the backup QB, especially if the starter is struggling.
Schaub's career passer rating, completion percentage, yards per attempt, and TD-INT ratio are all worse than Vick's, and it goes without saying that he's nowhere near as good a runner. Granted, Schaub has only attempted 161 passes in his career, so he may well improve with experience. (He may also start struggling when opposing coordinators figure him out and start gameplanning against him, that all remains to be seen).
Bottom line: It's far too early to declare that Schaub is better than Vick. However, I do wish him well, and hope he makes the most of his opportunity with his new team.

Don't worry dude... Vick will die from a STD before his contract is up... and I would never go to a game with Vick playing. I can't wait till he tears some ligament next season when he scrambles for 20 yards.

good for you , now if many more fans would do that , blank might wake up to see vicks showmanship has worn out. maybe petrino thinks he can do something with him but i do not see that happening since like you said --- he just cannot read the defense so he runs for it. that makes for a few exciting plays but it will never win in the nfl
