Suppose you have two numbers. The difference of the two numbers is 12. The product of the two numbers is 17. Multiply the larger of the two numbers by 100, add 50 times the smaller number to that, round the total to the nearest whole number, and that's my price."

While exploring through the trading post, you find someone offering a Ghostkerbomb. When you ask what she wants for it, this is her reply:

There is an easy process for finding out the numbers,In fact 12 hours back I had replied the same question to two askers.If you may go through the answers given by me.However,I am repeating the process again for you
Let a and b be the two numbers
Therefore,it is given that
a-b=12 and ab=17
We know that (a+b)^2
=(a-b)^2+4ab
=12^2+4*17
=144+68
=212
Therefore a+b=14.56 [square-rooting both sides]
Now we have the following two equations
a+b=14.56,and
a-b=12
We can now easily find out the value of a and b,which are
13.28 and 1.28 respectively'
now,you can find out your answer easily.
(note - incidentally,the same problem has been answered by me 12 hours back.I am accepting you as my fan,and you may go through the answer )
Therefore,the price is
13.28*100+1.28*50
=1328+64
=1392

I think the two numbers are 13.28 and 1.28

13.28 x 1.28 = 16.998 (which rounded is 17) for the product

13.28 - 1.28 = 12 (so the difference is correct)

Therefore-:

100 x 13.28 = 1328, then

50 x 1.28 = 64

1328 + 64 = 1392 (I think that must be his price....)

x-y=12---i
xy=17-->x=17/x--ii
substitute i into ii

x-17/x=12
x^2-12x+17=0
x=13.28, -1.28
y=1.28, -13.28
13.28*100=1328
1328+50*1.28=1392
