first go to start, then in the run box type msconfig and hit enter, then go to the start up tab at the end of the box, then uncheck all the programs except for anti-virus and firewall (if installed) and save changes... restart and check the box when you log back in and hit OK.....

then download a free registry cleaner, download a program called cclean, download a program called spybot search and destroy... (after these are downloaded make sure there up to date) i will give you the links to these and there all free

make sure your hard dive has been defragmented, do a disk clean up (all these are in your system tools under accessories in your start menu)

To speed up your start up do the follo0wing :

First and foremost go to Start-->Run (type msconfig in the blank and press enter to run the MsConfig. Go to the Startup tab, and from there you'll see all the processes and application your PC loads during Start-up. Unclick any that you don't need, remember that if you unclick a process you can always activate it from here. Re-start the PC.. To the dialog that will appear after the re-start click "Don't remind me again..." or sth like that and click OK.

Senondly use the Disk Cleanup utility and the Defragment utility to defragment your disk... you'll find minor speed improvement by doing that.

Try also to keep your desktop clean (not full of icons and files)
Delete any shortcuts that you actually have in the Start Menu too and

finally clean your pc from potential spyware/viruses
that should improve your PC's perfomance enough...

For even better perfomance use Registry Mechanic.
hope that have been helpful

Using registry cleaner can fix your computer and then make your computer faster,Why?the reason is that there are some regsitry errors and remnant, corrupt files and temp files in your computer to cause "computer slow".
Everytime you install and uninstall software on your computer and surfing online you create junk in the computer registry.over time, the registry can grow to enormous proportions, especially if the various programs you've installed do not do a good job of deleting and/or updating it's Registry entries. You need to scan and clean your computer with registry cleaner to make it fast.Good Regisry Cleaner will improve your computer and Internet performance dramatically! It even can speed up your computer by 300% or more!
There are some comparisons and reviews of TOP 5 registry cleaners.

This is the problem i have had before.. u have n't mentioned the processor type and speed and the amount of RAM or physical memory in your computer.. anyway i am trying to explain some remedies..
Slow start up speed: many a unnecessary program is running during start up of your pc .u can delete those unnecessary resistry entries by using any reristry cleaner like reghealer,regcleaner..etc.(those offer only trial version (only freescan not fixing/ repairing), but the "ccleaner" is a perfect software as far as my knowledge goes to use for startup resistry cleaner
BUT u MUST NOT clean the start up resistry of your antivirus-schield/ firewall or anti-spyware ( because spy ware/ tracking cookies try to run as a .".dll" during startup and may hamper your pc's privacy( usage history to third parties) without your intention.). Also unnecessary intruders try to get into your system which some times may be very harmful or disturbing.

Slow web page loading/ browsing: mainly web page loading speed depends on the type of network internet connection u have and the actual connection speed. There are soft wares available like "Dr. Salman's Windows Power Tool" ( 7 days trial version), "tune up system utilities 2007"(30 days trial ) for optimizing web connection speed and also system speed, (if not increasing)
some maintanance can be done like "deleting temporary internet files". "cleaning browser cache", "deleting cookies", "cleaning browser histroy" etc. with IE'S tools> internet options.>general tab and also using ccleaner..

if those cannot speed up web page loading as u need to work..then u have to try to get an high speed internet connection ( with larger band width and obviously cost u more)

You can increase your system speed by adding more RAM ( if u afford and if u have RAM expandtion slot in your pc's motherboard)

You must also schedule reguler anti-virus and or anti-spyware scan and fix them,( as viruses, trojans, worms, spywares, adwares, malwares and anti-vermins can slow system speed as well as network/ internet connection speed)

Well to speed up your computer you need to do the following
!)Check your minimum RAM capacity,if the RAM installed in your system is less then you gotta put extra RAM in your system
for e.g in WinXP you gotta have minimum 256 MB RAM
2)The other way you can increase your PC Speed is to delete the temporary folders in your computer by going to Start>Run>%temp%
3)Run Antivirus Scan
4)Stop unecessary programs at startup by going to msconfig in Run.

go to start> run > type in "msconfig" > startup> and remove the programs that you dont need to startup when windows starts, because that takes alot of ram. Download defrag software from http://www.download.com and defrag your hard-drives, that will make the computer faster and organize your files. Another thing to do is to right click on my computer>proporties>advanced> preformance>settings and remove some of the things that you dont need.Good Luck
